Renfrew Top in Blue

Renfrew Top in Blue
Pattern: Renfrew Top (View B) from Sewaholic

Fabric: Two yards of Geo Dot in Blue Cotton Jersey

When I started getting back into sewing for the bazillionth time a few weeks ago, I never ever thought one of my projects would be making a t-shirt. For the most part, I can find a t-shirt that fits me perfectly, but when Dixie tagged some adorable knit fabrics from Girl Charlee on pinterest, I swooned.. Sure I own white, grey, and black t-shirts in every neckline and length imaginable, but my “uniform” of plain T-shirt and jeans was less than inspired. I needed something a little grown up, but as easy to throw on. So, here is my first (of three) t-shirt I made.

Now what to do with all this extra fabric…

I usually wear a large in t-shirts, but since the pattern went up to 41 inches, I thought I should just use the largest size (16) and hopefully it would fit. I kind of swim in this shirt, so the next two I am making are going to be size 14. The good thing about these shirts is how easy they are to adjust. I know I should be making more muslins because I keep making things too big, but I don’t mind tweaking for the next project.

Check out how wrinkly I can make shorts! Just kidding. Very similar to the others, a light blue denim I found at Fabrics on Fourth.  I am into them. They’re way too big though. I could easily do two sizes smaller, probably another. Since they’re high waisted they have to fit over my lovely belly that currently houses a delicious burrito.

Here’s a preview of my totally finished and lovely Iris shorts– two pairs!  I wanted to show off the fancy fabric I found for the pockets. Totally in love. They need a good ironing and maybe I’ll get around to taking a picture of myself in them– probably not.

This is how I store my patterns:

My apartment is in a tragic state at the moment, but I did reorganize my fabric stash. Here’s some pictures of it!

Colette Iris #2

Last night I had a few extra hours and I managed to start assembling my second pair of Iris shorts. I’m very happy with how quickly this comes together and I can’t wait until they are done. All I need is another invisible zipper. The pocket lays flat, but I wanted to show the awesome fabric I chose for the pocket!
